Start with one steady sound
Try soft rain, a river or brown noise on its own. Keep the volume low and work on a short task before adjusting anything. If you keep noticing individual details in the sound, lower its level or try something more even. There is no single best background for everyone. The room, the task and your own listening preferences matter more than a universal preset.
Build a mix without making it busy
For writing, start with quiet rain. For reading, try wind alone. If you want a fuller setting, add a second source at a lower level. Keep your soundscape separate from calls
The overall slider at the bottom of the panel changes Oasis only. Turn down your background before a call without changing your Mac’s system volume. Individual sliders balance the sounds within your mix. Keep a comfortable level that still lets you hear people or important alerts. Oasis does not filter your microphone or cancel the noise around you.
Get back to your workspace
Click the menu bar icon, make an adjustment, then close the panel and return to your document. Playback continues without a main window to arrange. For a timed break, set the timer and let the mix fade out at the end. A timer gives your listening session a boundary rather than promising a particular productivity outcome.
Prepare for a session without Wi-Fi
Before working on a train or away from a connection, download every recording in your mix onto your Mac. Wait for the downloads to finish and test playback offline. White and brown noise are generated in the app and need no audio download. Mixes saved on your Mac remain there, even if you also use Oasis on your iPhone.
